fishing grant

All Reeds Spring Middle School seventh graders recently had an opportunity to go fishing during the school day, thanks to a Discover Nature Unhooked Grant from the Missouri Department of Conservation.

“$1,000 was spent on purchasing 30 rod and reel combos plus tackle boxes and hooks, bobbers, and sinkers,” said RSMS science teacher Lori Munhollon.

The Department of Conservation offers a curriculum that fits into the state’s required learning standards for middle school students.

“We are blessed to live in a region with so many outdoor opportunities and it is amazing how many of our students haven't had the opportunity to take part in them,” said RSMS principal Casey Carpenter. “It was an extremely positive experience for all involved!”
