Reeds Spring High School sophomore Allie Johnson placed fourth in the high jump at the Class 3 State Track and Field Championship, held in Jefferson City on May 17.
"I was super nervous, but I realized that if I wasn't good, I wouldn't be there,” Johnson said. “My event was the last one of the day, so my teammates were there watching me. I knew that I not only made myself proud but made my school proud."
Johnson’s jump cleared five feet and one inch.
“At the beginning of the season, I was struggling to clear five feet, but I started to improve as the season went on,” Johnson said.
Reeds Spring sent five other athletes to state. Emmarae Thompson competed in the 100-meter hurdles and the boys 4x800 meter relay team also raced. That team consisted of Thomas Holland, Max Hirschi, Dane Thierbach, and Reed Thierbach.
