We are still without water at the Primary School and Intermediate School due to challenges with the city’s water lines. While this issue is beyond the school district’s control, we share your concerns and are taking steps to minimize its impact.
In consultation with the Health Department and an environmental specialist, here’s how we are addressing the situation:
Handwashing stations: Three stations with fresh water have been placed in the Primary School and Intermediate School.
Hand sanitizing stations: Additional stations are available for convenience and hygiene.
Bottled water: Supplied at both schools for student and staff use.
Increased custodial support: An extra custodian will be in each school to ensure cleanliness.
Toilet flushing: Additional water buckets are on hand for flushing toilets.
Expert evaluation: We are consulting with external specialists to assess the water system and explore solutions.
It’s understandable to ask why we are keeping schools open during this situation. We believe it’s important to provide students with a safe environment and consistent learning opportunities. Closing schools could disrupt their routine and academic progress. Additionally, we can offer food, warmth, and care in a secure and supportive space.
We are better prepared to manage the situation this week. If you feel uncomfortable sending your child to school under these conditions, we completely understand. Absences related to this issue will not count against your child’s attendance record.
At Reeds Spring Schools, we believe a safe environment is essential. Thank you for your understanding as we work toward resolving this matter.
