At a regular Board meeting conducted at 5:30 p.m., on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the Reeds Spring R-IV Board of Education accepted and approved a certified resignation from School Board member, Joshua (J.D.) Miller, effective May 23, 2024. The Board has elected to appoint a person to this vacancy at the upcoming June 26, 2024, regular Board of Education meeting until the April 2025 election.
The process for appointing a person to fill Mr. Miller’s vacant position on the Board, as noted above, will be as follows:
1) Announce the resignation and vacancy on the school website on May 23, 2024.
2) Appoint a Board member, pursuant to Board Policy G-130-P and RSMo Statute 162.261.
3) Advertising for filing applications to be interviewed for appointment as a potential School Board member will be submitted to the Branson Tri-Lakes News and Crane Chronicle via Press Release for publication the following week, on the school website, and on social media on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
3) A Board Candidate Application, Declaration as Candidate for Director form, and Candidate's Affidavit of Tax Payments and Bonding Requirements Form 5120 MUST BE SUBMITTED AND SIGNED IN PERSON with the Board Secretary (or assigned designee) in the Superintendent's Office beginning Tuesday, June 4, 2024, during regular business hours (8:00 am to 3:00 pm) through the deadline date of Thursday, June 13, 2024. Please note, the office will not be open on Monday, June 10th. These documents will be available in the Superintendent's office on the dates listed above, or can be accessed below and downloaded in advance from the school website on May 31, 2024. However, the forms MUST BE SUBMITTED AND SIGNED IN PERSON on the above dates.
4) Candidates will be required to sign an Application Submission Acknowledgment form confirming receipt of a copy of the MO Guide to Ethics Laws handbook, a list of available and required MSBA Certified Board Member training dates, and Personal Financial Disclosure (PFD) deadline dates.
5) Applications will be reviewed by all active Board members. Up to three (3) candidates can be selected and invited to interview; however, the Board can elect to appoint a Board member without interview, pursuant to RSMo Statue 162.261. Applicants not chosen for an interview and/or appointment will be notified via letter from the Superintendent.
6) Interviews and/or appointment of a Board candidate will be conducted during Open Session at the next regular Board of Education meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Upon selection, an Oath of Office will be administered to the newly-appointed candidate effective until the next election in April 2025.
7) State law requires the appointee to submit a Personal Financial Disclosure statement within 30 days to the MO Ethics Commission and appointee will be required to complete 18.5 hours of CBM training (10.5 hours online and 8 hours interactive in a classroom setting) as soon as possible following appointment.
